Message you are just starting out. Running race tires as a noob generally hurts you in the long term because it allows you to hide your mistakes and never learn where to make yourself faster. Forget trying to be competitive at first and just work on learning how the car handles.

I personally am running a linear spring rate (RS-Rs) with KYB AGXs and sway bars and love the setup. Though i'm sure it can be improved I am usually in the top 3 in SM2.

The biggest problem with autocrossing the Z competitively in a mod class, imo, is that you can't get enough tire under the car considering the weight. I am now running 275s all around for autocross, and the winners in my class usually are running 300+ width tires (I was about .3 seconds off of him yesterday). If I could fit tires that size on the Z, decimating everyone would be an easy task.

Mostly its about figuring out your driving style though and then developing the Z around that.

My .02
